The present website www.acrossthealps.eu offers you an information system on the most important transalpine transit axes of the Alpine region states Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia. Under the respective axis name, you will find general information on the individual street axes, the most important applicable regulations and safety
instructions, as well as other helpful links, such as real-time traffic information.

The axes will appear in red colour as soon as an incident occurs that lasts for at least 48 hours and therefore makes the axis impassable for private and freight transport for longer periods. Incidents are natural events, such as earthquakes, landslides, rockfalls, mudslides, floodings or avalanches. Also “technical“ incidents are included in the system, such as
collapsed structures (e.g. bridges) or serious accidents resulting in damages of the infra-structure (e.g. tunnel fires), as well as activities, such as strikes or terrorist attacks.
